Invitation

Dear Colleague,
on behalf of the Executive and Organising Committees it is my pleasure to extend to you the warmest welcome to ECCM15, the 15th European Conference on Composite Materials, in the beautiful and romantic city of Venice!

I would like to first express my sincere gratitude to all the participants and presenters from around the world for their support of this conference, without which it would not have turned out to be the largest event ever in the ECCM series and among the top composites meetings in the world. In fact the conference attracted over 2000 abstracts from about 80 countries. After an intensive review process, 980 papers were accepted for oral presentations and another 320 papers as posters. All these contributions have been integrated into 50 General Sessions and 60 Thematic Sessions, the former coordinated by renowned colleagues. We are indebted to these colleagues and to the members of the International Scientific Committee for their important contribution to the review and selection process resulting into a superb Scientific Program.

In addition to the General and Thematic Sessions, the ECCM15 Scientific Program contains 4 Plenary Lectures and 8 Keynote Lectures. Together these activities provide the state-of-the-art and future directions of the world of composite materials. The topics cover the range from materials characterization to final application, including manufacturing technologies, modeling and simulation, and testing and design methods. The Plenary and Keynote lectures offer the insights and perspectives of the world’s leading experts from academia and industry.

Finally I would like to thank the ECCM15 sponsors for their generous support, which has made it possible to hold the conference at the great venue of the Venice Congress Center on Lido Island. Special thanks are also due to several institutions for their patronage and promotion of ECCM15 resulting in the high level of participation. Last but not the least, I am grateful for the hard work and diligence of the members of the Organising Committee and others, without whose efforts the conference would not have happened.

I hope you enjoy your stay in Venice and I wish you a fruitful Conference.
